Elevated Style & Refinement: 2018 GMC Yukon Denali SUV
GMC has elevated the Yukon Denali lineup with a number of styling and mechanical enhancements for 2018. The Denali trim accounts for well more than half of all Yukon sales. Offered in Yukon and Yukon XL models, the XL features a 14-inch-longer wheelbase (20 inches longer overall), for increased third-row legroom and more than double the cargo room behind the third-row seat.
GMC designers evolved the iconic Denali grille with a multidimensional, sculpted interpretation that, like other contemporary GMC elements, was designed in a layered manner. In addition to a more sophisticated appearance, the new grille offers greater airflow to the radiator. Active aero shutters behind the grille close in certain conditions on the highway to reduce aerodynamic drag and enhance efficiency.
Upgrades and enhancements for 2018 includes a new sculpted chrome grille; Mastique Ash Interior wood décor; new Satin Steel Metallic exterior color; and the tire pressure monitor now includes tire fill alert.
In addition, a new Denali Ultimate Package includes the Open Road Package, nine additional months of SiriusXM Radio and NavTraffic service, power sunroof, Enhanced Security Package, power-retractable assist steps, adaptive cruise control with Automatic Collision Preparation, and 22-inch aluminum ultra-bright wheels with Midnight Silver premium paint accents.
Power for the Yukon Denali models is generated by the standard 6.2L V-8 engine. Torque is communicated to the pavement through an all-new Hydra-Matic ten-speed transmission. A wider, 7.39 overall gear ratio spread, compared to the previous eight-speed automatic, enables a lower numerical top gear ratio and contributes to greater efficiency. The new transmission’s optimized gearing and proprietary controls allow the Denali V-8 engine to deliver a winning combination smooth operation and aggressive response. Four-wheel drive is an available option.
Inside the passenger cabin, real wood trim adds depth and richness to the interior. The eight-inch diagonal GMC Infotainment system with Navigation includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. The interior also features multiple USB ports and accessory power outlets including a 110-volt three-prong outlet to support electronic devices. The automaker’s OnStar Basic Plan is standard for five years and includes access to an in-vehicle 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and select features via the myGMC mobile app.
